Setting up the new LockedOn SMS platform

What is changing, why we've made the change, and the steps you need to complete.

Written by Luke Newton

LockedOn has upgraded the way SMS billing and sending is managed within the platform.

To continue sending SMS from your LockedOn account, your office needs to complete the required setup before COB Monday, 31 August.

This article explains what is changing, why we've made the change, and the steps you need to complete.

Why is LockedOn changing SMS billing?

SMS billing and management is now being brought directly into the LockedOn platform.

The new SMS platform gives your office:

  • Uninterrupted SMS service through LockedOn

  • Better reporting and visibility of your SMS usage

  • Up-to-date compliance tools as SMS and spam regulations continue to tighten

  • Industry-leading SMS rates

  • Pay As You Go and Auto Top-Up options for managing your SMS credits

  • New SMS unsubscribe technology built directly into LockedOn

IMPORTANT: New SMS unsubscribe feature

One of the biggest reasons for this upgrade is SMS compliance.

We have built new technology to manage SMS unsubscribes directly within the LockedOn ecosystem.

This means your office will have options for providing customers with a simple way to unsubscribe from your SMS communications.

UNSUB Link

You will have the option to include an UNSUB URL in SMS messages sent from LockedOn.

Your customer can simply click the link to unsubscribe from your SMS communications, with their SMS subscription status managed within your LockedOn CRM.

Reply STOP

Alternatively, you can include a manual opt-out message in your SMS, such as:

Reply STOP to unsubscribe

This provides recipients with a clear way to tell your office they no longer wish to receive SMS communications.

Why is this so important?

SMS compliance is becoming increasingly important for Australian real estate offices.

ACMA is actively enforcing Australia's spam rules, including requirements around providing appropriate unsubscribe facilities. Penalties for non-compliance can be significant.

These new LockedOn tools are designed to make managing SMS unsubscribes easier for your team while helping your office stay on top of its compliance obligations.

Rather than manually managing SMS opt-outs and updating CRM records, LockedOn is building this functionality directly into the platform.

It's best to get ahead of these changes now rather than having to catch up later.

Step 1 - Verify your office numbers

The first thing you need to do is verify the mobile numbers your office will use with the new SMS platform.

We've created a short video that walks you through the process. Watch: How to Verify Your SMS Numbers

Follow the instructions in the video to verify the relevant numbers for your office.

Step 2 - Choose how you want to purchase SMS credits

Once your numbers have been verified, you can choose how you want to manage your SMS credits.

There are two options:

⭐ BEST OPTION: Auto Top-Up

Auto Top-Up is our recommended option.

When your SMS credits get low, LockedOn will automatically charge your nominated payment method and purchase additional SMS credits for your account.

This means:

  • You don't need to manually monitor and purchase credits

  • Your SMS balance can automatically replenish when it gets low

  • You reduce the risk of running out of credits

  • You don't have to worry about messages stopping halfway through a bulk SMS send because your account has run out of credits

For offices that regularly use SMS, Auto Top-Up is the easiest way to ensure your SMS sending can continue uninterrupted.

Alternative option: Pay As You Go

With Pay As You Go, you purchase SMS credits when you need them. When your SMS credits are getting low or have run out, LockedOn will alert you so you can purchase additional credits.

This option gives you control over when you purchase more SMS credits.

Step 3 - Set up your payment method

You'll need a payment method connected to your LockedOn account so SMS credits can be purchased directly through LockedOn.

Already have a payment method?

If your LockedOn account already has a payment method set up, you don't need to add it again. You can move on to the next step.

Need to add a payment method?

We've created a short video showing you how. Watch: Setting Up Your LockedOn Payment Method
